Natural Dye & Non-Toxic Dye
For Our Collection, we use two considered dyeing approaches: Natural Dye and Non-Toxic Dye. Each process gives the fabric its own character, creating colours that may naturally vary and evolve over time.
Natural Dye
Natural dyeing uses colour derived from botanical sources such as plants, flowers, roots, leaves, bark, and fruits. The slower, hands-on process creates soft, organic tones with subtle variations in colour and texture.
Over time, natural-dyed fabrics may gently fade, soften, or shift in tone through washing, sunlight, and everyday wear. Slight colour transfer during the first few washes is also possible. These natural variations are part of the beauty and individuality of each piece.
Non-Toxic Dye
Non-toxic dyeing uses carefully selected dyes that avoid harmful or highly toxic substances commonly associated with conventional dyeing. This process allows for more consistent colours while maintaining a more conscious approach to the making process.
Compared to natural dyes, non-toxic dyes generally offer greater colour consistency and stability. However, the colour may still naturally soften or fade with repeated washing, sunlight, friction, and everyday use.
Both dyeing processes are designed to let the fabric evolve naturally with time. Small variations, fading, and changes in tone are not imperfections, but part of the unique character of your Embody piece.
